We help patients manage their cholesterol levels.
Cholesterol is a substance that is necessary for many of the bodies functions and processes. Our bodies manufacture some cholesterol and some comes from the food we eat. When you have too much of so-called bad cholesterol (LDL, or low-density lipoprotein) or too little “good” cholesterol (HDL, or high-density lipoprotein), it is possible to develop serious medical problems. This can include atherosclerosis (“hardening” of the arteries), heart disease, heart attack or stroke.
How can we manage high cholesterol?
When we give you a blood test and it reveals that you have high cholesterol, there are medications that may help you to lower your levels of cholesterol, keeping them under control. Also there are lifestyle changes that you can make, that include eating a diet low in saturated fats or high in fiber. Getting more exercise and losing weight can definatley help lower your levels of “bad” cholesterol as well.
